Why is the resurrection of Jesus important?

Jesus’ resurrection is very important to us because without it Jesus would have been just another religious leader.  You see, every founder of a religion has died and one can go to their tomb and see their bones today (Muhammad, Buddha, etc.)  If Jesus would have remained in the grave, He would have been just a man and not God.  Without the resurrection we would still be in our sins and we would be of all people on earth most miserable (1 Corinthians 15:17-19).  If Jesus did not rise we would be false witnesses to God and our faith and preaching would be in vain because we would still be in our sins (1 Corinthians 15:14-15).  When Jesus rose from the dead He not only proved that He was God and that death had no power over Him, but this also showed that God the Father accepted the sacrifice for sin (Romans 1:4, Acts 2:24, Philippians 2:10-11).  So remember while Jesus’ death is important, His resurrection is even more so.
