What is relationship in regards to salvation?

Relationship is the way in which two or more concepts, objects, or people are connected to each other.  In the sense of salvation, it is what happens to us upon accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.  Once we have done this we are regenerated (given new life; Titus 3:4-7), born again (by the Holy Spirit; John 3:1-8), reconciled (made a friend of God; Romans 5:11), and adopted into the family of God (Romans 8:14-17).  Through our relationship with God we are no longer seen as sinners in Heaven because God only sees the righteousness of Christ (2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 John 3:9).  However we do still sin while we live on earth, but we will talk about this next week.
