What is fellowship in regards to salvation?

Fellowship is a friendly association between two people.  In salvation fellowship is how well we are following God’s will and serving Him.  Our fellowship is good if we continually serve God and try to honor Him with our lives (1 John 1:7).  However, our fellowship can be terrible if we willingly live in sin (1 John 1:6).  In order for us to have this fellowship we are to cast away the cares and desires of this world and cling to Jesus daily (1 John 2:15-17; Romans 12:1-2).  If we do sin we need to seek and ask for forgiveness and God will cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:8-10).  Only by serving God and trusting Him completely can we be truly joyful and fulfilled in our fellowship with Christ.
