What does salvation mean in the Bible?

Salvation means to be delivered from something and can be seen in the Bible by comparing Acts 2:21 and Joel 2:32. Depending on the context salvation can be either physical or spiritual in the Bible.  When the Israelites crossed the Red Sea God physically saved them from the Egyptians (Exodus 14).  When Peter began to sink in the water, he cried out for Jesus to save him, which was physical (Matthew 14:22-23).  We as Christians will even be physically saved through the rapture of the church (Romans 13:11).  It is important to remember that while the Bible speaks of spiritual salvation, it also speaks of physical salvation as well and we need to make sure to separate the two through context.
