Why do bad things happen to us as Christians?

Many times we feel like bad things are only happening to us alone.  It always seems like those who are lost are not having as hard of a time as those who are saved.  However, this is what the Bible tells us will happen if we believe on Jesus (John 15:20).  Paul tells us how we should handle these things in 1 Corinthians 4:10-13: “We are fools for Christ's sake, but ye are wise in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye are honourable, but we are despised. Even unto this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwellingplace; And labour, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it: Being defamed, we intreat: we are made as the filth of the world, and are the offscouring of all things unto this day.”  Even though the world hates us, we need to keep on serving God through it all and we will see the rewards when we get to Heaven
