Why should we study the Bible?

The main reason we are to study is because it is commanded of us by God (2 Timothy 2:15).  If we become students of the Bible then we will be a good worker before the Lord and not be ashamed because of our laziness.  It will also help us to rightly divide the Bible, knowing how to put things in context and therefore have correct doctrine.  Another reason we are to study God’s Word is so that we can memorize scripture (Psalm 119:11), allow God to guide us daily (Psalm 119:105), and to be able to walk freely with God and know His will (Psalm 119:45).  And through all of these things we will be able to give God more praise through His Word (Psalm 56:10).
