Why do so many people get offended by Christians?

There could be two reasons for people being offended by Christians.  First, some Christians may be living a truly hypocritical lifestyle and thinking themselves to be better than others.  The Bible warns us not to offend anyone at any time so that the ministry and the gospel may flourish (1 Corinthians 10:32, 2 Corinthians 6:3).  We are also called to sincerely love others and show them Christ (Philippians 1:9-11).  Second, people may be offended not because of the Christian but because of Christ (1 Peter 2:7-8).  Those that are lost will become offended at us for telling them the truth of Christ and their eternal destiny because they refuse to believe (Galatians 4:16, 2 Corinthians 4:4).  Hopefully, we are displaying the latter instead of the former.
