What is the soul?

The soul is a very unique thing that we as humans have.  It can be defined as our true self and the decision making part of our being.  The reason why people are unique is that we are the only things on this earth that God gave a soul (Genesis 2:7).  The soul is eternal, meaning that it will never die or cease to exist.  At the end of our lives our souls will be required of us by God (Luke 12:20) and whether or not we have accepted Christ as our Lord and Savior determines where our soul will end up.  If we reject Christ then our soul will be in Hell and then the lake of fire, but if we accept Him then we will be in Heaven forever.
