What is the body or flesh?

Our body is our physical being.  While our soul is everlasting, our body is not.  Our bodies, or flesh, have a sin nature within it that we have inherited from Adam (Romans 5:12).  Since our flesh has a sinful nature we cannot trust it, because it works against us enticing us to do the evil that we don’t want to do instead of the good that we would like to do (Romans 7:14-25).  Our flesh is an enemy to God since it refuses to do His will (1 John 2:16).  So how do we overcome our flesh?  Once we are saved the Holy Spirit indwells us and shows us how we are to live.  When we walk by the Holy Spirit we will do the will of God (Galatians 5:16).
