Was ancient man stupid?

People today seem to be under the impression that ancient man was stupid and that we are intellectually superior.  However, God did not make mankind dumb.  He gave us all intelligence, even at the beginning.  Adam and Eve’s descendants were masters and creators of music, metallurgy, and farming (Genesis 4:20-22).  Also most ancient cultures have done things and built things that we couldn’t build on our best days (e.g. pyramids of Egypt, Peruvian wall).  Actually mankind has degenerated over the years and while we may be smart, we are nowhere near the intellectual capacity of early mankind.  If we believe that we are smarter than they were then we are just fooling ourselves (Romans 1:22).
