What does Psalm 2:7 mean stating that Jesus is begotten?

This verse is taken by some to mean that Jesus had a beginning and that there was a time that He did not exist.  However, this is not what this verse means.  When we look at the New Testament, God defines this prophecy for us.  In Acts 13:26-34 we see that this verse is referring to Jesus’ resurrection, being the firstborn of the dead (Colossians 1:18).  Jesus was the first fruits of the resurrection and is the reason that we will be raised later on in the rapture (1 Corinthians 15:20).  This verse can also have a double meaning referring to the virgin birth, but the main context is referring to the resurrection.
