Why does God make some people rich?

There are instances when God monetarily blesses those who follow Him, like Abraham.  However, just because God blesses some people with material wealth, doesn’t mean that those who do not have it are cursed by God.  God makes people rich and poor (1 Samuel 2:7) but just because a person is rich does not mean that they are in His favor either.  There are many people in the world today who have become rich through criminal activities; God will deal with these in the end (Proverbs 22:16).  As long as we are following God and doing what is right then we are in a better state than they are (Proverbs 28:6).  Also we are to store up treasure and wealth in Heaven, not here on earth (Matthew 6:19-21).  So as to why God allows some to be rich and others not, it’s hard to say.  As long as you have food in your belly, a roof over your head, clothes on your back, and friends and family then you are very rich indeed.
