What does it mean that God is omnipotent?
The word omnipotent is only used one time in the Bible and it refers to God (Revelation 19:6). It means all powerful, which God is the only One that has this attribute. God’s power is matchless, meaning that no one else comes close to having His power. While God is all powerful, He never opposes, counters, or resists Himself. Nothing is too hard for God to do (Genesis 18:14) and His control over creation is unmatched. He is over nature (Isaiah 2:10-22), He is over man (James 4:15), and He is over the sons of God (Job 1:6). God’s power, like His love, is never ending and everlasting.
