Why do tragedies continue to happen in this world?

With recent events everyone wonders why evil continues to flourish in the world and where is God through all of this.  The reason for the evil is sin.  When Adam disobeyed God, he condemned us all as sinners and because of this people run to evil and are consumed by it (Romans 5:12-21).  As time continues, the world continues on a path of wickedness and evil, even with the efforts of the Church through the Holy Spirit.  God knows that we are hurting and doesn’t want any of these things to happen.  So why does He allow it?  God is patient and is trying to allow all an opportunity to come to Him through His Son Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:9).  So, what can we do?  Tell as many as will listen about the saving grace and love of Christ and pray for people to turn to God instead of away from Him.
