Was there a first earth age and was everyone that is on earth now, here then?

There are many who believe that there was another period of time of the earth before God created in Genesis 1.  This is called the Gap Theory.  It is mainly the idea that there is a gap of time between Genesis 1:1 and 1:2, that Satan ruled over the earth at that time, that Satan rebelled against God at that time, and that God threw the earth into chaos because of this.  However there is no Biblical evidence to support this view, just speculation.  The Bible tells us that there was no sin, death, or judgment in the earth before Adam, the first man (Romans 5:12-19).  Also Genesis 1:1 is kind of an introduction stating that God created the heaven and the earth and starting with verse 2 the Bible begins to give the details.  To believe that there were people before Adam or another earth age before Genesis 1 is to deny what the Bible says about sin and death.  They were not here before Adam, only after he disobeyed God.  So the answer to this question is no.
