How do I talk to God?

To talk to God one must pray to Him.  Now a prayer does not have to be anything spectacular and you don’t have to use fancy words when praying.  There are three basic things that one really needs to know when praying.  The first is to be humble.  Don’t lift yourself up by telling God all that you have done, instead acknowledge God for Who He is and what He has done (Luke 18:9-14).  The second thing to do is to pray for God’s will.  While there are many things that we want or think we need, remember that God knows best and if we pray for His will then we will get His best even though we might not get what we wanted (1 John 5:14-15).  Finally make sure that you are not rambling on and on. (Matthew 6:1-9).  There are many people who just ramble, saying big words, not really meaning what they are saying and doing nothing but wasting time, don’t be like them.  Instead tell God everything on your heart and be real with Him, because that is what He wants.
