Are we slaves to God?

There is a simple answer to this question:  No.  We are not God’s slaves, even though many throughout the world think that we are.  The Bible never says that we are God’s slaves, it says that we are His servants (Galatians 1:10), children (Galatians 4:5-6), heirs (Galatians 4:7), and many other names of honor.  God does not want us in bondage to Him, He wants us free.  We have a free will to choose to follow God or not, even after we are saved.  Before we were saved we were in bondage to corruption (Romans 8:21), fear (Romans 8:15), and were servants to sin (Romans 6).  Through the blood of Jesus we were made free of sin once we have accepted the salvation offered to us (Romans 6).  So remember that Jesus came to bring us the truth and to set us free from the power of sin.  “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:32)
