Should I be afraid of other people?

No, we should not be afraid of other people or what they may or may not do to us.  Jesus tells us that we should not fear those who can only kill the body but can do nothing to our soul (Matthew 10:28a).  But Jesus did tell us that we should fear God because He can destroy both the body and soul in hell (Matthew 10:28b).  While the thought of hell is a very terrifying thing and no one in their right mind wants to go there, the fear we have towards God is a little different.  The Bible tells us to fear God many times.  But this means that we are to respect and have a high regard for Him.  We know God’s power and read of His wrath.  These are things we need to respect.  But don’t forget that God is also loving, merciful, gracious, and forgiving.  All we have to do is accept the work that Jesus did for us to gain these.
